Linda Gebhardt

Clear, practiced and competent. Linda Gebhardt's -Gebhardt Glass & Pottery Studio- work has been gracing homes since the 1970s. Originally trained as a potter in Minnesota, Linda moved from clay to glass and most recently has returned full circle to work clay once again.

Linda's work reflects the light that motivates her. The natural world, the fields around her home, the dogs she raises and loves, her children and family bring her a peace of mind confident enough to work with that most fragile of materials, glass.

Self taught in Stained Glass, Linda advanced Glass as a craft in Connecticut as the American Craft Renaissance rose in the 70s. She has taught extensively throughout Eastern Connecticut including QVCC, Windham Adult Education, Wesleyan and her own Gebhardt Glass & Pottery Studio in Windham Center. Her glass mirrors, boxes, Tiffany lamps and windows glow, reflecting the natural world which is her inspiration.

In the early years of 2000, Linda turned her eye and hand back to clay. She works in both wheel thrown pottery and hand building techniques. Linda's Gebhardt's work is a beautiful example of the decorative arts put to functional use. Her clay work is balanced. Her designs are clean.

Linda has been a member of Swift Waters Artisans Cooperative for many years.
