Maggie Kendis grew up in Los Angeles and studied art at both San Francisco State College and the University of California, Irvine, where she received a BA in art. Her core studies were printmaking, drawing and photography.
Following a period of living and studying in Mexico, she learned the medium of batik. She worked in that medium for 20 years, and it has been represented in galleries from Beverly Hills, Palm Springs and Maui, to Boston. She has commissioned many works for the Bank of America throughout Southern California.
In 1980, she got married, moved to Connecticut, and continued to study printmaking, pastels, drawing and painting in oils, and watercolor. Now single, she lives in Lebanon with her dog and two cats.
She divides her time between working as a director with Mary Kay Cosmetic, painting faces, and working her art in primarily linoleum prints, monotypes, and painting.
